QA/QC Packaging Components Coordinator
In charge of the Packaging Dept. to oversee all incoming inspection (including outsourced
assemblies) of components for dimensional tests utilizing calipers, gauges, micrometers, etc. for compliance to cGMP and test standards for packaging components used in this personal care products contract filling company. QC Raw Materials Inspector
Responsible for the Quality Process of incoming hazardous, non-hazardous and microbial sensitive chemicals. Working with R&D, Manufacturing, EHS, and Purchasing, I improved the process that included chemical inventory, purchasing, receiving, documentation and testing. This resulted in the amalgamation of specific chemicals, faster testing, the elimination of unnecessary and redundant testing, the revision and creation of new test procedures and monetary savings of $30,000 annually.
Formica Corporation
Odenton, MD 1999 – 2001
Technologist
Responsible for the administration of the company’s Quality Plan and support to the Marketing and R&D departments. Evaluated new suppliers of raw materials for cost efficiencies as well as new raw material chemicals for compatibility to existing chemistries and new product innovations in Formica surfacing products.
Major accomplishments included lower defect rates through process audits, establishment of QC tests for critical quality attributes, improvements in test methodology, equipment modernization and training of the production work force in Lean Manufacturing principles.
International Paper
Odenton, MD 1993 – 1999
Supervisor – Color Dept.
Working for the Manufacturing Group, I directed production operators and color matchers
in the daily manufacturing and consistency of pigment batches utilizing color science theory & methodology. I developed formulas to match color standards & targets for Fortune 500 companies’ architectural specifications for surfacing materials and trademark signage, and managed color
consistency for International Paper’s own “Fountainhead” product line.
Major accomplishments included $50,000 avg. annual savings in ‘corrections’ of rejected off spec. batches and the reformulation of raw materials such as concentrated versions of pigments, and the introduction of low cost fillers and extender additives.
US Air
BWI Hub / Linthicum, MD 1989 – 1993
Maintenance Facilitator
As a support person to the total Maintenance Department, I worked singularly and in teams for the inspection and cleaning of aircraft interiors. Following FAA and company preventative and regular maintenance schedules, I issued cleaning instructions, maintenance requests and recommendations to ensure overall appearance and hygiene standards for passenger safety and satisfaction.
Additional duties included the receipt (arrival) and push back (departure) of aircraft utilizing specialized motor equipment and communication devices for coordination with pilots and flight controllers.
